Highly rated German-Nigerian defender Ohis Felix Uduokhai has left the door open for a possible switch of allegiance to Nigeria
The 20 year old Vfl Wolfsburg player was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and German mother, and had been reported to have turned down approaches from Nigeria to play for their national team
However in an Interview with top German magazine kicker Uduokhai clearly stated he is still leaving his options open
“I have not been to Nigeria often yet, but I talk a lot about it with my dad, and have family there.”
“That’s where my roots lie, it’s important to me to stay connected.”
The Nigerian federation has openly courted Uduokhai and the player himself holds the decision open.
“Of course, the German national team is the non plus ultra in world football, but so also Nigeria a great team.”
“Currently, I’m really open to both sides, “said Uduokhai to kicker
Felix Uduokhai from VfL Wolfsburg is one of the winners of the first round. The 20-year-old was able to establish himself quickly in the first team and delivered mostly strong performances.
Udokhai is currently a German youth international and missed out on the last invitation due to injury
