Nigerian national team coach Gernot Rohr has spoken about the Super Eagles goalkeeping department bearing his thoughts on the issue
The German Tactician was speaking on a popular Sports programme Monday night football on SuperSportTV and strongly hinted Uzoho will be part of the Super Eagles squad to Russia 2018
Francis Uzoho came into the limelight when he became the youngest foreign goalkeeper to ever play in La Liga debuting for Spanish giants Deportivo La Coruna in their 0-0 draw at Eibar.
His performance promptly saw him get called up to the Nigerian National team for the games against Algeria and Argentina and the 19 year old Impressed again in his short Cameo Against Argentina
The former Golden Eaglet seems to have won the confidence of the coaching crew who seemed to have been worried about the Eagles goalkeeping department since the unfortunate health issue of Wolves safe hands Carl Ikeme and the retirement of Lille of France shot stopper Vincent Enyeama from the national team career.
Gernot Rohr has a 2nd goal keeping coach who has been attached to Uzoho and is working with him at his club.
The gaffer also suggested the upcoming CHAN tournament will help current Eagles no 1 Ikechukwu Ezenwa whom they will continue to monitor.
Speaking about Eagles former Number 1 Vincent Enyeama the coach said he is in regular touch with the former Super eagles Number 1 in France and expects him to move to a new club in Jan to improve his chances as he now has limited playing time at the club
“Carl Ikeme had health issues and Vincent Enyeama quit the national team,” Rohr said.
”We had Ikechukwu Ezenwa who has not done badly. He was great in the WAFU Cup.”
“There has also been the coming of Francis Uzoho in Deportivo de La Coruña”
”He was very exciting in the friendly against Argentina and we have sent a trainer to work with him in Spain.”
