Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare is convinced that new £25million signing Kelechi Iheanacho will strike up a deadly partnership with the foxes top striker Jamie Vardy
The Foxes signed the talented 20 year old best minutes per goal ratio of any Premier League player and the Leicester boss is impressed with what he has seen so far
‘What I have seen so far I am really impressed with,’ Shakespeare said at his initial press conference
‘I don’t want to put too much pressure on him because he is a young lad, but I like his character. Just as importantly his quality of play has been there for all to see.
‘Hopefully in 12 months we will be sitting here and he has got a hatful of goals and he has been a team player.
Kelechi can play with Jamie, as we saw in his cameo last Friday night. But I think he is versatile to play in different positions. He has done that at Man City. We have got strength in depth in forward positions.’
Iheanacho also showed signs of what to expect when he set up Vardy for the winning goal in the final pre-season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach last Friday.
The Nigerian international unfortunately could not finish the game forced off with a toe injury
Kelechi has recovered from a toe injury to be in contention for the Premier League’s curtain-raiser at Arsenal on Friday night and will contest for a start at the Emirates with Shinji Okazaki, Islam Slimani and Leonardo Ulloa.
