The 30 year old midfielder has been an ever present in the team has continued to struggle to get playing time under Rohr
Ogu was once again an unused sub in Nigeria 4-0 demolition of Libya in Uyo on Saturday leading to fans of the player questioning the German tactician over his none inclusion
However Rohr has allayed any fears saying John Ogu is a player he likes very much and there was a reason Ogu was not given a look in against Libya
“I like him very much and he is always here and his moment will always come,” Rohr told media
“But when we had an injury in the first half and already had to do a change of Ola Aina coming for Shehu Abdullahi.
“We wanted to let a little bit of recovery and we took out Ahmed [Musa] and Odion [Ighalo] who scored a hat-trick.
The 65 year old German tactician also hinted at the Hapoel Be’er Sheva ace getting game time in Tuesdays game in Tunisia
“We are watching already for the second game [against Libya]. That was why we made those changes [leaving Ogu on the bench].”
The three-time African champions depart Uyo on Monday for their return game against the Mediterranean Knights at Stade Taïeb Mhiri in Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday.
