Nigerian Midfielder Kelechi Nwakali was in superb form and returned to scoring ways when he scored twice for MVV Maastricht in the clubs 3-1 home win against Jong FC Utrecht in the Dutch Jupiter League on Friday evening.
The Arsenal loanee was clearly the best player on the pitch helping his side bounce back from the defeat in the regional derby against Fortuna Sittard
Kelechi opened scoring for MVV in the 24th minute when MVV launched an attack from the left, via Hawbir Moustafa and Atilla Yildirim,
The attack ended up with Shermaine Martina laying on for the 19 year old Nigerian who controlled brilliantly and popped it into the net for MVVs 1st of the night
Utrecht tried to even things up and came close to an equalizer twice but always found MVV keeper Michael Verrips at his best.
Immediately after the resumption however MVV extended their lead again through the talented Kelechi Nwakali who has made the modest outfit look a different team since his return to the side.
The former Golden Eaglets captain broke quickly again from the left, dummied his way past the Utrecht defence and finishing with a classy well-placed shot
Jong Utrecht’s confidence seemed to evaporate after the second goal but MVV failed to capitalize wasting chance after chance and eventually let the visitors back into the game with a careless error in defence
However despite late rally from Jong FC Utrecht, MVV ended the game scoring their 3rd a minute from regular time through Atilla Yildirim to make it 3-1.
This is Kelechi Nwakalis second loan spell at MVV following his return after failing to feature regularly for Dutch top flight club VVV Venlo where he spent the first part for the season
