Gent needed a good result to placate their fans after the loss to Brugge over the weekend and got on course early into the game when Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi netted the opener in the 6th minute
The home team, however, battled back and Guillaume François managed the equalizer and Luxembourg international Joachim placed the ball in the far corner 2 make scores 2-1 just before the end of the first half
The match like that until the 80th minute when Stallone Limbombe scored to tie scores at 2-2
The former Nigerian Youth International Awoniyi would grab his 2nd of the night scoring in the 89th minute to make it 3-2 before Limbombe also scored his brace to make it 4-2
It was a good game for Nigerian striker Awoniyi whose last goal for Gent came on the 16th of August against Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok in the qualifiers of the Europa League
Amazingly both holders Standard Liege and league leaders Club Brugge were sent packing by non-league clubs.
