Leicester city striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been receiving a lot of stick from some Nigerian fans for what is perceived as a very woeful display in the Super Eagles 1 -1 draw with South Africa on Saturday
The Super Eagles qualified for the 2019 AFCON with a game to spare with a commendable 1 -1 draw with South Africa at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg and while the team was decent and did just enough to ensure qualification Iheanacho was singled out for his poor performance
With Super Eagles first choice striker Odion Ighalo out with an Injury Iheanacho got the nod to start in attack alongside Ahmed Musa
Iheanacho who was once the preferred option to lead the Eagles attack was handed a rare chance to again stack a claim for the spot but failed to capitalize on the opportunity
The highlight of his performance was when the 22 year old found himself free in the 18 yard box with a chance to put Nigeria ahead but scoffed the chance with a very poor first touch
Fans took to social media to express their disappointment with some going as far as suggesting the Leicester star be dropped from the team completely
Below are some comments from Fans
Kelechi Iheanacho is getting worse. The regression is frightening to see…

If we're honest, Iheanacho has regressed…and badly too. What happened to him?

Iheanacho with what Mark Gleeson calls a "tennis racket touch" to let Bafana off the hook.

If it was an Npfl player that had a poor first touch like Iheanacho, some of you will write an epistle on why Npfl players are useless and have poor technique.

Kelechi Iheanacho has moved from a promising young footballer to a poor footballer. Completely off form and struggling at the minute.
